Windows 8. What's your opinion?
So, it's basically been acknowledged by the majority of the PC gaming community that Windows 8 is stupid, evil and must burn, (maybe that's just the sites I go on...) but what's your opinion?
For those that don't know basically Windows 8 is gonna have a sort of inbuilt game store which takes in 30% of the monies and doesn't let you really get games elsewhere. (Feel free to rectify if I done goofed)

My opinion about Windows? DIIEEEEE !!!!
Re: Windows 8. What's your opinion?
Why can't Windows just be the nice middle of the road OS? I don't want the sterile, oversimplified gloss of a mac, and I don't have the patience to learn how to get the most out of Linux.

In case you have not noticed by now, Microsoft screws up every other version of Windows. So I'll be waiting for Windows 9, or whatever they call it.
Re: Windows 8. What's your opinion?
Every other Windows operating system has been shit. Windows 7 is good, Vista not. XP good, ME not. 98 good, 95 not. Statistically, 8 will suck.
Edit: Aenir sucks for replying just before me. :-p

Only Microsoft likes that hog shit. I'll stick to my Windows 7, thank you very much.

What does Windows 8 have that Windows 7 does not?
My thoughts on Windows 8 compared to Windows 7...
I'm not going to transfer to Win 8 any time soon.
Might end up getting a separate Linux machine sorted though, more freedom.

Re: Windows 8. What's your opinion?
It sucks. I had the unfortunate experience of installing the Consumer Preview (not on this computer - but it did really detract from my gaming computer's performance), and the only way to revert is to wipe my drive or reformat. So, until I have the time and money to go buy an external HDD, I'm stuck with this pile of shit.
It also wasn't clear in the terms of use that if you download the preview, you're stuck with it - so don't. Take it from me, just stay away from Windows 8. It's all bad.

Yeah... I guess. I did avoid the Vista plague, so I guess I can survive this.

Most unfortunately, I run a Vista OS. It's shit. If only I had the money to upgrade it to 7

For that matter, an upgrade to '98 may even be ideal.Aenir_bEPU wrote:You should upgrade to XP.Invunarble wrote:Most unfortunately, I run a Vista OS. It's shit. If only I had the money to upgrade it to 7

I had Windows ME once. It would sometimes just randomly restart without warning and for no apparent reason.

The app certification windows has VVV
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... 94083.aspx
Take a look, in particular, to 3.2 and 3.5
So basically if any "app" is buggy then it can't be sold. Quite a few really good games still have some bugs in them, and a lot more fun indie games do too
Also it means that any app at all will have to have touch controls. Sounds ok in practice, equal ease of use across both keyboard and touchscreen but something tells me that a game like, for instance, Fallout: New Vegas will be a bit strange to play like that. That is if it would be allowed at all what with the numerous bugs it still has.

Code: Select all
3.2 Your app must not stop responding, end unexpectedly, or contain programming errors
3.5 Your app must fully support touch input, and fully support keyboard and mouse input
Your app must provide visual feedback when users touch interactive elements.
Your app must not use an interaction gesture in a way that is different from how Windows uses the gesture.

There is no complex Software product without programming errors => There will be no complex products in the app-store

Whoa there, settle down, Bejeweled is a might bit complex for something like Windows 8. Try Connect Four instead.Wildwill002 wrote:Basically it'll be windows 8 with a great selection of games like Tetris, Pong or Bejeweled

Connect Four is pushing it, something like Pong may be much more appropriate for Windows 8.Aenir_bEPU wrote:Whoa there, settle down, Bejeweled is a might bit complex for something like Windows 8. I think Zork would be more appropriate.

Re: Windows 8. What's your opinion?
I propose a new game series.
We call it Bughunter:
Now in this game you play a game and find bugs.
So for example, Bughunter:Minecraft would be the bughunter game, on a minecraft launcher. The aim of the game is to find bugs. Any any all included bugs are intentional. This makes bugs not bugs, and makes the game valid for Windows 8.
It works for ALL games, just add the bughunter: tag in front of it
You want to play Bastion? Nope, Bughunter:Bastion is the game for you! Daggerfall for some oldschool rpg? Nah, Bughunter:Daggerfall is a much better game.
It's Genius.

Would this result in the unusual paradox known as "gameception"?welwyn wrote:I propose a new game series.
