I can extrapolate on this with tea bags and instant coffee...
What's the worst that could happen?

Where on earth does the salt come in?

Also, this sounds disgusting. Sorry Vallorn.

The salt acts as a sweetener. A VERY tiny amount of salt in a drink or meal actually sweetens it. this is the logic behind putting salt in your porridge.

Rather interesting. I never knew that. Is there an advantage to saline tea over saccharine?

While I prefer sugar or golden syrup in my porridge, I can attest to the safety of salted porridge

Porridge in general sounds unsanitary even without salt.

Would seem like an ideal tossable tossing thingy-thing.

The amount of salt in porridge is generally a small pinch stirred into a bowl. The amount varies with taste though so if you try it start with a very small amount then build up a tiny amount at a time till you find the level good for you.

The benefit of slightly saline tea over sugared tea is the health benefit of not taking in sugar and a possible gain in iodine if you use that salt.
