Last year half the people at my lunch table were huge bronies who were into anime and knowing about every single japanese fetish, and eventually I got too annoyed with it and left.

That pretty much sums up my taste in anime: angry dudes (and occasionally androgynous teens) beating up stuff on a ridiculous scale. Plot, characters, setting and narrative are all very much secondary to me, all I ask for is grand spectacle and a kickass soundtrack.

Asura's Wrath is fucking hilarious. Completely over the top with battles of absolutely unprecedented scale. You know you've got a winner when your guy is getting stabbed with a sword that has gone straight through to the other side of the planet, and he's still fighting.

Anime in general I don't particularly care about, and the fanbase tends to creep me out.

Not sure MLP counts as anime. It's Western animation as far as I know. And I would have left too. MLP fans (the ones that aren't 8 year old girls) creep me out immensely.

OT (as much as one can be in this thread): I'm not as into anime as I used to be, but I still watch some now and then. Almost all of the Ghibli films are great. Also Cowboy Bebop, Gurren Lagann, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Pandora Hearts, Oofuri, etc etc.

Well you find a couple people you know at lunch, sit with them for a while, and it becomes habit. It isn't like assigned seats or something (oh dear god elementary school...), it's just there are a ton of people at my school and you are only friends with so many of them so you tend to sit with them (also the school is split into 3 lunches, and last year most of my friends were at a different lunch).
