Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
You've also got to defeat the sovngarde halls guardian and then you wont have any companions at all... It does (or at least did on mine) count towards kill count...
Spoiler! :
Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
I don't suppose it's as simple as just Fus Ro Dah'ing him off the cliffs?
Maybe we should define the challenge to be "who can get the fewest kills?" instead of first to beat it with zero.

You dob't kill him you only beat him up a little until he says you are worthyJake55778 wrote:I don't suppose it's as simple as just Fus Ro Dah'ing him off the cliffs?

Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
My eyes. No main story line spoilers please. Unless they're in spoilers.
Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
Also, do Automatron kills count? Considering they're not alive...
Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
There's a stat for them, so yes they count.

Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
Yeah I just found the stat, it makes sense now. Getting illusion to 25 so half muffle cost and spam my way to level 100 lol
Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
Mercer Frey is a badass O.O

Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
I shall take on this challenge and win at it.
A wizard is never late, Frodo Baggins. Nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to. - Gandalf the Grey
Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
Ok pre questing done, got to level 17 after spamming muffle in conjunction with the Mage Stone. Now 91 in illusion which lets me turn undead against each other with fury. Just killed the first dragon. I tried to steal the first quest guy you get following you from the Companions, but oddly his kills counted unlike Mercer =/
Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
It's because the companions are actual NPC partners you can ask them to join you at any point, so they count where as mercer is just a 1 time only use.Lathania wrote:Ok pre questing done, got to level 17 after spamming muffle in conjunction with the Mage Stone. if you want a good companion find Barbas the dog he's awesome.

Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
Woo! Sovngarde!
All I can say is: Good freaking luck on that last dragon priest. It might have been easier if I were lower level. There was only 1 draugr low enough level for me to frenzy, meanwhile I've got 3 draugr deathlords, 4 dragons, and lets not forget the dragon priest himself, all hacking at me. Oh and the frost dragon drains all your stamina, while the priest's summoned lightning artonach drains your magicka, so I was basically chugging potions every time I needed to cast a spell.
Oh and FYI: Fus Ro Dah'ing guys off cliffs doesn't add to your stats, as long as it's the fall that kills them.
*edit*
And done! Completed Skyrim's main quest with only 1 kill (Alduin himself, you have to be the one to land the final blow apparently).
Level 37
Illusion -100
Pickpocket -100
Smithing -82
Heavy armor -67
Enchanting -54
Block -46
Restoration -41
Sneak -41

Does this mean you win your own prize? xP
Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
Also, rules against exploiting game mechanics? You had mercer follow you for ages, are we allowed to use game mechanical issues like that to our advantage? I have a good one in mind *evil grin*

I should think the kill button counts, Lath.

Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
In my defense I couldn't get rid of Mercer if I'd wanted to. Not without reloading to a save WAY back. The quest you need to complete to get rid of him seems to require killing.Lathania wrote:Also, rules against exploiting game mechanics? Exploits are a tricky subject. You kind of have to draw your own line in the sand for something like this.

Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
Why not use the one-kill main quest as a prerequisite, a preliminary round of sorts? You have to complete it only killing Alduin to progress farther into the challenge, going as far as you possibly can with only the one kill.
No loading saves, either.

Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
Well killing Alduin is kinda the proof you actually did something risky, and not just stayed in town leveling all your non combat skills.

Mentioned what I wanted to do in that PM, up to you whether or not you'll accept it in your challenge.Jake55778 wrote:In my defense I couldn't get rid of Mercer if I'd wanted to. Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
Sucess! I don't think it was clarified that I wasn't allowed to hit things, the 2 crits and sneak attacks were for when I couldn't be assed waiting 25 minutes for the quest people to kill dragons while spamming healing hands on them Did it without any companions, and didn't use the exploit I was thinking about. Done on Master difficulty.

Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
Congrats, that's considerably more impressive than my run which was only on adept.

So do I win?
Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
I guess. I can't really win my own contest, and everyone else seems to have given up.
Congratulations! Contact me in game for the prize.

Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
I'm curious, how did you deal with the dragon priest who guards the portal at the end? For me that was by far the hardest part of the game, but that might just have been because I was over leveled.

Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
Well, having not ever done that part before.... I FUS RO DAH'd him and jumped into the portal, having figuring out on the first 2 runs that he removes the staff that stops you from jumping in? Am I correct?
Essentially the priest didn't lock the portal before I jumped in.

Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
Huh I never realized the portal starts out open. He'd always already closed it by the time I got close enough to see, that and I'm usually distracted by the dragons.

Re: Skyrim pacifist challenge
I couldn't do anything to any of the mobs there so I was sprinting the whole way.
