Must.... Download.... Illegally....

I'm too poor to fish out the $200 or so dollars for the student version anyways. Not like I'm making a profit off it.

I got it free with my wacom. It's pretty cheap even if you buy it, at least compared to the behemoth that is Photoshop CS.
The most up to date version is around £50:

And you can pick up the version I have for as low as £8.99:

Not to mention they are outrageously overpriced. I only use them because I got a large student discount when I was in University, but that was CS4. So far there hasn't been anything important enough for me to update to CS5 and we'll see about CS6.

There are also many free solutions out there that can get the job done. Remember, an artist is not good based on the tools he uses.

Yeah, I just need to get Illustrator. Inkscape, that program you showed me Sneaky, is missing a few features I just HAVE to have to do things with it.

Sorry for the "necro", but I figured making a new art thread would be stupid.

Anyways, I painted both of these this past week. They are done with acrylics and took about 5 hours each to do (not including pre-mixing paint and sketching out scale patterns). I did them as a sort of yin-yang idea. One is very human-appearing, and looks kind. The other is reptilian and much more cruel looking. I plan on eventually making a third, yellow eye, that will have a milky eye to give it the appearance of being blind. Might also put a scar over the eye.

Anyways. here they are!

It's only been a week, hardly a necro.

I really like the first one, made me think of the Eragon books.

Thought of a fun art project for myself, just thought I'd share. I used to play Spore a lot (by play I mean just make creatures that look cool) and I think I'm going to create a sort of umm... field biologist's sketch and note book. Think I'm going to draw different angles of my creatures, with close-ups of different features and little sketched description.

Don't know why I thought of this but hey, sounds like fun so I'm doing it. I'll post results as they happen. :D

I drew up this creature with a pen in about 5 minutes, then tried using GIMP for the first time to color/render it. Not even close to done, but I thought I'd show what I have.
