Review of Sam Adams Boston Lager and M&M's

Post by Rock Beefchest » 10 Jan 2012, 11:44

On advice of counsel I was told to take a handful of M&M's chew them up but do not swallow then and then pour a Boston Lager through the candy as you drink it.

It was heavenly. The chocolate smoothed out the Hoppyness of the beer just a touch and the tastes complimented each other perfectly. As far as combinations go I give it 4 out of a possible five stars. Would reccomend trying this to anyone (above the legal drinking age in your country).

Now on to try Vodka and Oreos! My friend swears by that combination.

Bacon vodka? What on earth do you do? Put bacon in vodka or vodka on bacon?

Vodka's nice in jelly (jello) though.

That sounds very interesting, I know M&Ms are good, so at the very least, the combination would be half enjoyable! I'll probably have to try this at some point.
Orange and white, but not quite right.

Another odd sounding combination is a shot warm Ouzo followed by root beer.

You basically put the (cooked) bacon in the vodka for a week, cover it up etc, when its done you just have to get all the big bits out with a seive and put it through a coffee strainer to get rid of the grease. Takes ages basically, and not really worth a weeks wait :P

Tastes good though

The bacon vodka I had wasn't stained it still had bits of baconfat floating about. I didn't like it that much, the bacon taste was quickly overshadowed by the burn fo the cheap Vodka.

OT: (sag quit trying to hijack my review) Someone try the Sam Adams and m$m's thing and let me know what you think. Is it A. the best thing on earth or B. the best thing in the known universe. It was just wonderful to me.

If not sam adams any hoppy beer will do I pick boston Lager for the richness of flavor it is hoppy but not IPA hoppy more full bodied and benefits from the candies. I tried it with a pilsner and it didn't work and a stout is too heavy the beer overpowered the chocolate so guinness is out as well.

I mixed blue Monster and Coca Cola once on accident, and it was pretty good. I do it every chance I get now. :P

Meanwhile, back on the original topic, I can report that the flavors do compliment each other. The mild flavor of M&Ms is somewhat overpowered by a good IPA, though. Something with a bit less dairy contamination holds up better.

Yes agreed the candies ruin a good ipa neither the candy or the beer is very good. But there is something magic about boston lager.

Had a can of Lager to hand. And some M&M's. I noticed it. It tasted good. But the texture of floating thick chocolate in a much smoother lager put me off. I hate stuff floating in my drink, sweet or not.

the Sam Adams with M&M's was surprisingly good, almost like an Old Rasputin (North Coast Brewing). and i have tried the Bakon vodka, (the brand is called Bakon vodka- its bacon flavored obviously), but it didnt really appeal to me. I have found that i canmake a truely DEADLY good cinnamon whisky coke. aftershock(or fireball), gosslings 151 rum, and some dr pepper = your trashed and dont taste it, it works wonders on co-workers

Go to 7-11, get a jumbo slushie. Fill with whatever fruity flavour. Drink 1/2 of it. Add a can of mother, 4 shots black sambuca, 1 shot tequila, 2 shots absinth, 1 shot vanilla sambuca and 4 ice cubes. Its the best drink for a Gears games night.
