Other gaming platforms

Post by Cho » 08 Feb 2011, 09:33

So... The current issue of The Escapist's theme is console wars... so it made me wonder. How many people play on a console regularly? If you're a minecraft player, we know you do at least some gaming on a pc. Is the PC your primary game platform? Do we you use a console regularly? Which do you prefer?

For me... I'm a pc player. I don't own a console, and haven't since.. oh gee - the Sega was the last console I owned, I think. Not only do I prefer the PC over a console, but I prefer mouse and keyboard over a controller as well. And I've got to say, the only game that I'm really bummed out that I can't play is Red Dead Redemption - but not enough to make me go out and buy an XBox just so I can play it.

I have an XBOX360 and a Wii, aside from my PC. I generally play the "good" games for the consoles, and have been using my PC for WoW and MC for the past 2 years. I was always a console gamer, as I didn't have a PC until 1999, and even then it was an old, old POS that ran some OS I don't even remember. All it was ever used for was crappy DOS games, and not even much at that.

Sadly, though, with current obsessions being on the PC, I barely even finish console games. The last game I completed, I believe, was Asscreed 2, with the most recent played being New Vegas.

I don't agree with the idea of the console wars.
Feels like a bunch of hot air over nothing.

I am a gamer, I play on consoles and PC. My only thought is of if the game is good or not and if I want it.
I feel comfortable with game pad and mouse/keyboard and always enjoy which ever I use.

In my collection I have two PCs, Nintendo Entertainment System, Super NES, Nintendo 64, Gameboy colour, Gameboy Advance SP, Nintendo DS, Sega Genesis, Play Station, Play Station 2, PSP, XBox and a XBox 360.

I chose PC, but I also have a 360 and a PS2 that I use. I like to play as many different games as possible, plus my PC isn't good enough for some of the newer games out there. I find the idea of platform wars stupid, and wouldn't mind if the people constantly spouting on about how great their chosen platform is, were shot. I hate serious argument over such trivial matters.

Also, every platform has many, many douchebags playing on them. My Minecraft experience has taught me that, so I discount the elitism of PC gamers thinking all console gamers are retarded. Yes, the people I've seen online, when playing the 360, have made me forsake multiplayer gaming, but Counterstrike is enough proof that everyone playing on the PC is not Jesus either.

Usually I prefer PS3, but it's been broken for a while now.

I've made the most of this time by hunting down classic PS2 titles I never played.

I fluctuate between by laptop, SNES, Megadrive, PS2, Xbox and Xbox 360. I try to appreciate a variety of games and I don't participate in the console wars because I don't give enough of a toss.

Mine spontaneously yellow-lighted.

It was the original 60gb model, which apparently have crappy soldering.

Well it's way outside of warranty, so I'll probably have to just take it to a repair place.

I won't have much time for it until summer anyway, so it's not so bad. :)

Yeah I'll have to get in contact with them or something...

I've surprisingly not missed it that much, despite the fact I've only had Minecraft and PS2 games to play.
