Unable to sleep

For the past few nights I've been unable to sleep. I don't know why I just can't. I've tried everything and only succeeded in falling asleep at 4 only to get back up at 6:30

Any hint's? I've tried warm milk, horlicks and other liquid remedies and they don't really help...

Oh and as of posting this, it's 2am -_-

Listen to chillwave, it puts people to sleep when they're tired.

I had insomnia pretty badly last year. I found exercising was the best cure. Just burning off any excess energy with a work out before bed works wonders.

That might be it... I have missed my last couple of horse riding and rock climbing sessions... I shall attempt it and hopefully reap the rewards!

Perhaps you should try some Melatonin. It seems to work for a friend of mine. :3

Am I the only one here that still counts sheep?

My brain (being as screwed up as it is :P) thinks I'm a bat or something, so my sleeping schedule gradually shifts later and later until I am fully nocturnal.

To solve this, I pull an all nighter every now and then so that the next night at 10pm I have absolutely no trouble getting to sleep.

Try long division in your head. Or; Spherical Trigonometry if you're really looking for a knock out.

Perform strenuous physical activity with a member of the opposite or same gender in the vicinity of your bed. that should do the trick.

Silly Vallorn. You can't arm wrestle in bed, your elbows would sink into the mattress.

Meh, I've had a fair few bouts of insomnia.
Although usually my way of dealing with it is with a book to pass the time, and around 3 high-caffeine drinks in the morning at at College.
Sometimes it's just easier not to force sleep.

First don't use your bed for anything except sleeping. No reading, no tv, no gaming or anything else. Think of your bed as a work station with only one purpose.

Next dont eat anything after 8:30 otherwise your guts start metabolizing it and that can trick your brain into thinking it needs to be awake.

The excercise thing would probably help too.

If that doesnt' work eat a bucket of BBQ ribs and let the Itis take care of the rest.

Thanks for the help rock, but I've kinda just integrated it into my normal sleep pattern now. Basically I just watch youtube videos up until I either feel sleepy or it hits 4 am. This way I still get at least 2 hours sleep and it's not as boring as just sitting there waiting for my mind to go quiet.

One of my friends has really bad sleep problems, which she has had since she was like 3, so she reads until she falls asleep. She was reading high school level books in like 1st grade. However, even though she is used to getting like maybe 2 or 3 hours of sleep a night she still crashes, so she has to make sure that every now and then she actually manages to sleep or she has nervous breakdowns. If you don't at least get somewhat of a normal night's rest occasionally, it can really affect your personality and concentration, so watch out for that :/
