That said, I would rather see alcohol and the wacky tobacky trade spots in terms of legality.
I agree, Any substance can be abused... anything can be abused... Food, drink, drugs, paint... you name it and chances are if you take in to much of said thing it can (And most likely will) have negative effects on you.

For example: Going to McDonalds every day.

It should be completely legal. It's a win win situation that everyone knows it a fact. It was put on this earth for us, human beings :D

After last night, ive realised i need more than one joint to have any effect at all, so if i was to take it up it would be expensive, which would be my only concern of it:L

If you can't afford it, don't do it.

If you can, go crazy... and share. :-D

That's my final thought on the matter.

In my opinion the recreational use of it is wrong, but if it can help ease pain during such illnesses as cancer then I'm all for it as a form of prescribed medicine.

I think it should be legal, but with certain laws regarding it that should be obvious. No driving, don't be high at work, common sense stuff mostly. It's been proven to be less dangerous than alcohol or smoking, so I don't see any reason for it to be banned. Plus, having it be legal would likely cut down on the cartel issue in Mexico.

Just wanted to note, I've never smoked marijuana or done any drugs, so everything I'm saying might not matter since I have no experience with it.

The goal, for anyone in favor of Marijuana legalization, is very simple and straight forward:
"Legalize and Regulate Marijuana in a Manner Similar to Alcohol."

As for the Cartels, I believe that like any scum of the earth they will always be here, and find a way to make money out of something. If legalization can help cut one of their branches, thus cutting some of their cash flow, I'm all for it. But, I think their violence will always be here, as long as men are greedy.

In the Netherlands all drugs are legal to varying degrees. They have clinics where people can go to safely inject/smoke/etc. without risk of disease or OD. These are hard drugs I'm talking about, heroine, meth, methadone, crack, all that jazz. BUT, when people decide to get off these drugs, the government puts them through a state sponsored rehab. Also the "cool taboo factor" is diminished, since it's the government giving it out. So people are less likely to wanna try drugs at all. What has this wacky liberal hippie system resulted in? Some of the lowest rates of addiction or casual use in Europe. Even marijuana has a very very low rate of heavy users in the place that may as well have a pot leaf on their country flag. Legalizing pot or any other drug, will not result in everyone starting it.
Pot is also not addictive in the traditional sense. Caffeine and alcohol, the two most abused legal drugs in the world, have chemicals that make people come back, and have serious withdrawals. Pot can have the same draw to people who are addicted, but it's a psychological thing for the most part. It would be akin more to video game or gambling addiction.
And lastly, you cannot OD on marijuana, to get enough of the active ingredient to kill you, you would have to have the lung capacity of a blue whale.

Herione and such is just plain stupid. They are manufactured, unnatural chemicals being put into your body, and they are extremely dangerous. Weed is just a plant.

I read recently that something like 65% of Americans support the legalization of marijuana. Not sure how accurate that is, but just a fun fact for you all.
