Branchscape

The Branchscape project was started near the begining of the Terra world. In essence, the goal of this project was to create a tree that was large enough to house a fair sized town. Of course today, over a year after its start, this project has become much more than that. The original project is now the capital of the Branchscape Empire, a collective community of towns and cities across the survival worlds.

The different sections of the Branchscape empire include the Branchscape Capital, Frost,Shardrock, Inhuman City, Transcentral, Hamalyn, Yggdrasil, Dragon Outpost, Deephaven and Arley.[/color]

If you want your town to join the BR Empire...
Spoiler! :
Here are the things we will need to review your town:
Town name:
Owner:
Number of residents:
Coords, world:
(Screenshots are nice too)

However, know that the town at minimum will need to have a town cuboid, 5 or more residents, a town hall, and basic facilities such as farms to join the empire.

If your town meets our criteria and joins the empire, the following rules/benefits will apply to it:
  • The current rulers of towns within the branchscapean empire will retain ownership of their lands, although those rulers will become branchscape lords upon joining the empire, and thus be under the rule of the branchscape leaders. (BR leaders--> lords --> project managers --> residents)
  • It is recommended that you use the branchscape chain of command system.
  • All towns under branchscape rule will fly the branchscape flag
    2012-04-28_21.07.19.png
  • All towns under branchscape rule will be added to the towns section on the BR website, http://branchscape.net/, along with a small blurb about the town and a link to the forum's page topic for that town.
  • All residents will join the BR voluntary 'taskforce', and the town will have access to this taskforce for community projects.
  • All facilities at the town's disposal will become available to any other citizens of BR, and vice versus
  • All towns under branchscape rule will be subject to an inspection every so often; If the BR inspector finds faults(a.k.a. ugliness) in the town, then the lord of that town will be notified, and may deal with the fault(s) as they see fit.
  • Either a tree specific to the town, a tree styled district, or jungle trees in appropriate locations will need to be added to the town to give it that 'tree town' feel.
  • In the event that a town should wish to terminate their affiliation with BR, then that town will no longer be under BR rule, no longer have access to BR facilities and taskforce, or be able to fly the BR flag, and will be removed from the website and branchscape OP.
Towns in the Empire

Branchscape Capital
Spoiler! :
The Branchscape capital can now be found tucked away in south borjan near the end of the south rail. The completed tree is in the center of the expanding town, which is currently divided into 3 distinct districts. The central district containing the main tree and its roots is called Branchscape Main. It is a dense forest of giant trees and shady brooks, crisscrossed by winding sand paths and surrounded by mountains. Normal plots are free, but residents can commission their own personal giant trees for 8-20 diamonds or more (although 20 will buy the largest tree available for commission). Leading up to the ocean, there are seaside cottages as well as the branchscape docks complete with lighthouse and ships.

The second district is known as Cloudscape, which is run by ItchyNL, it's founder and creator as well as Tothewhat, one of the first branchscape residents. Cloudscape consists of a large archipelago of floating cloud islands, all of which are above the cloud line, many of which support their own private trees. The largest of these, alpha and beta are literally floating mountains and can support around 30 plots on them. Personal islands can be commissioned for the same price as private trees.

The last and least developed district is known as Seascape. Seascape consists of a series of underwater domes, tunnels and reefs. Although it has been worked on by a number of people, seascape has yet to be lead up by a truely dedicated owner and the position remains open. Personal domes can be commissioned for the same price as private trees.

There can almost always be found an active project to participate in at branchscape if you are interested in helping. From deep caverns below the surface, to farms and an up and coming dock district, we hope to always have something you can enjoy working on with other members of the community.[/color]

Rules for this settlement can be found on the branchscape website:
http://branchscape.net/
What you can come across while wandering branchscape...
  • The project itself, which is the largest tree on escapecraft
  • Our up and coming duplicate of branchscape, which is called windwillow.
  • A multitude of smaller giant trees called private trees
  • A giant mushroom cavern[roots]
  • A resetable spleef arena[roots]
  • The branchscape bank (with over 40 functioning combination vaults and currency exchange)[roots]
  • A zombie fight arena(with active spawner)
  • The town shop
  • A public pool
  • A spa
  • A post office
  • A windmill with a set of cliff farms and animal pens

History
Spoiler! :
Gather round ye new players, and ye old, and hear the story of Branchscape and how it came to be...

In the younger days of the server, long before the new worlds were discovered, in the golden age of the corinthian empire, just before the rise of the USSR, an intrepid band of players by the names of Tanisjihanis, Wildwill, and Viactic SnarSnar set out on an epic journey to build a tree...large enough to house a city!

From the start, the players were unknown and lacked experience. They were lent a large expanse of land by corinth, where they could build their prototypes far away from prying eyes. The construction was fraught with difficulty, and materials were painstakingly difficult to obtain. Thus, the leader Tanis created a set of plans to help most efficiently construct their structures. However, there was a lack of coordination, and in one of the schism that rent the land (an update), one of the original founders, WildWill was separated from the group for a long period of time. When he returned, he left the project in search of a fresh start. This caused a huge slow in construction, and left the project on the verge of puttering out. Another player, by the name of Vallorn (in an unusual act of kindness not involving lava) stepped in and revived the project, adding his own spin to it.

In the light of this new burst of activity, there was a sudden flow of new ideas and residents to the tree. A rail was established in no small part thanks to the help of Jaggorax, the founder of Corinth, and Branchscape was established as completely separate from Corinth. Viactic and Tanis were swept up in the river of this sudden success, and immediately began plans to create a double of their structure in the new world, recently uncovered by Hax. But alas, this venture stretched their resources too thin, and production came to a halt. When another schism shook their world, Viactic was lost from the server, never to return. At the end of the schism, Tanis looked around to find that he was alone. His creations lay empty and lifless, their previous inhabitants rushed off to colonize new worlds. Struck by lonliness and unsatisfaction in his creations, Tanis decided to burn them to the ground. However, when he was prevented from doing so by the strange laws of minecraft nature, he instead put the tree under the care of Nart, as he was urged to do so by his friends, and he left the server for a great length of time.

When Tanis returned to the server, he came back with new ideas, and renewed confidence. However, as he looked around, he found that many of those he had once known well were gone, replaced by many new faces. He found that the server had grown much bigger than him and his old project, but this was something that he resolved to change. And so, Branchscape was reborn better than ever!

Working in isolation, Tanis strove to fix all the imperfections he had found in his original creation, and to create a utopian city. Over the course of the next few months, he worked in solitude, to deconstruct, and rebuild the majority of the porject, creating a dome, open air branches, and a symetrical road system where there had before been a jumble of misshapen and claustrophobic passages and houses. During this period of time, he dedicated himself to the completion of the project, to the exclusion of aquiring personal wealth, and interacting with other players. However, eventually, his drive puttered out and in search of new inspiration, he went exploring the new worlds. It was there that he met Venomm in fyra. Venomm showed Tanis the world in a new light, with the possibility of meeting new players and gaining appreciation for his creation. Together, the two returned to Branchscape, where Venomm took up residence, and started his own project, while Tanis continued his.

Since the day of reopening as a settlement, Branchscape has grown exponentially, garnering new residents weekly, and continuing to expand with new developments such as docks, shops, and quite a few personal trees. A day after the survival world Borjan opened to the public, Branchscape was transported into the far south, a mostly empty region filled with snow and nearby epic mountains. New land was claimed, and the town continued to expand. The owner of Verdant; yabai_ninja joined up, and began building the branchscape arcane military outpost: Vulpis, which was to be several pine trees holding up a castle over the intersection of 4 rivers. Wildwill returned from his ventures across Escapecraft, and started helping with remaking the rail, and brought up the idea of roots. Tluke, leader of a large underground city in Terra noticed branchscape's expansion, and upon request decided to help with creation of the roots.

On January 29th, 2012 venomm2 officially declared his decision to leave the ranks of the exalted leaders. He later decided this was a bad idea and revoked his decision, and there was much rejoicing.

On the 30th January 2012, Tanis suggested many games, who knows why, for Branchscape to participate in. A grand total of 0 people declared interest from the off, and work instead began on making Branchscape a true empire.

On the 2nd Feb 2012, An Empire was Born, with the merger of Frost(LS13) and Arley(TyreseEngineer), Branchscape was now a true empire, and there was much disorganisation. After many flag designs, a flag was chosen, and immediately squabbled over.

A nether rail was started by WildWill002 on the 16th Feb 2012, and was then completely forgotten about after an amazing time of a day.

During the same day. Venomm was given a Permaban for a total of 8 offences, and there was much melancholy from Tanis, therein followed a week or two of nothing much happening, then Tanis, LS13, ilikefoxes, and TyreseEngineer all got mentor status at the same time on the 23rd February 2012.

The next day, work started on more of the infrastructure, including the Town hall, as headed by M477, where many pickaxes and shovels were used. All the while, more and more private trees were being built, and more plans put into action, including a Branchscape photo album, and 2 public mines.

Project Bubbles opened for building on the 27th Feb 2012, starting with a landclaim created just next to the Far South rail stop, preparing for the first Seascape dome to be created

Work began on the outlying areas, such as Frost, where a massive tree farm was built, and open for use by the empire, as well as Farmscape, created by Xan_Krieger. And around the same time, a new resident arrived by the name of Choiku, bearing many similarities to a former leader of Branchscape, who more or less immediately took over the construction of WindWillow.

The Town hall was finished, and a follow up photo album and video were produced. There was then kick-start for the nether rail project that was commissioned so long ago, and work began on the nether side of Frost, Arley, Branchscape, and the first stop on the South Borjan line. However, there was an unforseen problem that the ratios were not active, so the nether rail was scrapped for good.

The chain of command went into action on the 9th March 2012, bringing in new ranks from
Leaders
lords
Project Managers
Dedicated Residents
Helpful Residents
Residents

Construction began on the Yggdrasil during the time where everyone else had updated to the 1.2.3 version, and only a few Branchscapians worked on the World Tree, including ItchyNL and M477h3w1012.

Work also began on a branchscape memorial, made by ToTheWhat, as idea collecting commenced, when everyone was press-ganged into giving ideas on places of beauty

The 18th March 2012 marked Branchscapes expansion into a world beyond Borjan, with the merger of Harbour Town came Steveab's promotion to Lord of Branchscape, and all the new perks of being part of the Branchscape empire

On the 22nd March 2012, the redlight district was commissioned with the completion of the bank in the roots, and LS13's slot machine, which is to be moved into the Redlight district.

And on the 4th April 2012, work began on a new project, high up in the sky, aptly named CloudScape, and a task force was immediately dispatched to create an awesome collection of sky islands, and cloud cities upon high.

The spot was swiftly filled by Foxes, who had been working on project Bubbles along with Serubin. They finished work on the first dome around the 20th April 2012. To which there was much celebration.

The Post Office rail began construction, worked on by LS13, Tothewhat and sponsored by other members of the community willing to donate rails and platforms. Also, during that time, the winners from The Photoshoot were finally announced, with Tothewhat winning first place with her picture of the nether garden in the main tree, 2nd went to ItchyNL with his Hot air balloon, and 3rd was given to M477 with his picture of the cemetery. Tothewhat was then promoted to co-lord of CloudScape, and life continues.

At the beginning of May, Tanis started the replacement of the wall around branchscape with mountains.

On May 28, 2012 Tanis and Andrew_Dayton(Xan) sampled the first fruit from farmscape after the first level was completed.

On June 8th, the decision was made to ally Branchscape with the USSR, who with the fast coming retirement of terra, moved across the rail from Branchscape Central.

The construction of a great branchscapean library came with the introduction of editable books.

Hytro took over construction of farmscape after xan left branchscape.

Tyrese started the grand station for the empire spanning rail system

Sewers started by whales.

Preparations for the foothold in tolteca commenced.

The first branches should only extend about 10 or 12 out from the trunk, going upward. there should be at lesast 3
DONT MAKE THEM SYMETRICAL!

:D

Its okay if the tree is not perfect, it needs some creativity!

As i said earlier, we do have an area for mining. If you would like to join our settlement(i see no reason why you could not!), i would appreciate it if you would put some work into this if you are opposed to simple tree farming. We will need 3 main branches, and while you may incorporate this any way you wish, i would like the out come to be impressive! I would start with dramatic bridges across the cavern black made for us. Or if you simply wish to tree farm that is fine too :P.

Baisically what i am saying here is that it is fine for you to have housing with us, but i would like you to help out some as well :D

MrWhales, the previous plans have been rendered invalid. I am drawing up new ones at the moment. See the pict that is my avatar for a general idea of my end goal, i apologize for not having more concrete plans as of yet. You are also welcome here, as long as you are not adverse to putting a little time into the mines or resource gathering!

Figured out a perfect large-scale branch design.
Its got to be built like a spiderweb I.e. in a spiral

Il see if my laptop allows me to do this but it requires some dirt scaffolding and a shton of wood but im guessing were used to a large need of wood

Viatic for now, just gather supplies, or work on the mine. Or, if you want, you can start the forest, and ruins therin. If you want to make a personal ground house for the time being, as production is slowing down, you can do so, just keep it wood and leaves please!

I will work on the branches later on today.

Wild, I would like to see your plans for branches.

tanisjihanis wrote:Now that we are starting on our first housing levels, I would like to invite new residents to come and stay in Branchscape, and maybe help out with further floors. Who knows, if enough people come around, then I have plans for up to 4 trees, with bridges connecting them. The only rules are:
Use wood, planks, and leaves!
No ugly cobble please
if you want to make a ground house, plant a minimum of 5 trees around it. (we have saplings and bonemeal available on request)
Help with resources. We need a sh*t ton of logs and leaves. (Aqua, we now have cauldrons out here)
Enjoy your stay with us, and check out the Blackadder "assisted" Cavern for mining benefits.

Wtd you are accepted. i can vie for your effort and ingenuity.

Chimps, that is from back when minecraft didn't have multiplayer servers.
LOL
you can still look for it though if you want to, maybe someone replicated it on a server for ALY.

a friend forwarded that to me after a request for design ideas.

Excellent Mydrox, if you could drop them off in the storage chest at the end of the tunnel, or give them to me or one of my co-workers in game that would be great!
