This would be a great way to organize another one of those group mining trips we did a while back. Sti was there. it was fun... although none of us found anything and we lost a few people... It was fun :P
Ps this is not me joining just a suggestion.

Heh, I remember that. Everyone kept falling into lava and getting killed by spiders. I "did" find a few diamonds that trip though.

Its called cave mining really fast with no torches in an unexplored area. I did that once in Frost, amassed a small fortune.

wot, how do you find dia cave mining? ._. It's like being asked to make a house from a printer, it's virtually impossible.

You have obviously never seen the Frost caves. They are insanely expansive and cover an area that is about 3 times as large as Frost, if not larger, with tons of caves down in diamond levels. However, I have already found all the exposed dias :I

I'd like to join this group. :)

I have the starting of a strip mine under my tower in Tolteca. I managed to hit an underground ravine AND a mineshaft in the same tunnel, A dungeon was connected to the mineshaft system aswell. Needless to say i now own 5 mob spawners. 1 zombie and 4 cave-spider. Ive also managed to dig up a stack worth of iron blocks from within the mineshaft and more coal than i care to count. Recently i found another whole unexplored section of the mineshaft which seems to be partly located mid-air of the same ravine as before or possibly a second one :D
Ive only pulled out about 3 diamonds though :/
Ive never enchanted anything myself before (was given an efficiency iv pick once which was awesome) and i always use vanilla diamond tools. Also what technique of mining do you all prefer?

I enjoy caving more, but I mostly strip mine when I get low on diamonds.

Cave mining is less efficient for finding diamonds. It's great for getting iron/gold/coal/lapis/emeralds/mossy cobble, but anything below layer 10 is automatically flooded with lava. Meaning you only have 6 levels in which exposed diamonds can spawn, and a lot more lava to have to navigate around while looking for them.

Hit the jackpot earlier when I had ran into three eight-dia vein deposits in the open nearly right beside each other. I must've been really lucky. 8-)
