Good point, assuming we're concerned about fairness. As an example, I just ran into a cave/lake with lava in the region of layer 7 today.

Call me stupid, but I can't seem to find a way into the IC. According to the OP, there is an entrance to it in the main hub, but I'll be damned if i can find it. Where is it?

I believe the new entrance is up the brick staircase to the second level of the hub that was recently installed.

Yeah I havent got around to editing the OP to include where the Imperial City portal is. It is now located on level 2 of the Hub. The second floor is accessed by the stairs by the nether entrance.

Also by the way, Level 8 is completed now and I have chaffed off many of the edges for level 7 now. As well I think that I can halt work on the edges for now and help out on the last corner just so we can clear it out and get everyone situated on how to do the edges. It will also help me gauge a better ETA on when the last corner, and therefore the ENTIRE 500x500x128* or so area cleared which to date has taken over a year to complete. The edges are just a last beauty-detail thing to do for the place.

OH and all the of the ground floor has to be turned to dirt/grass and all the torches removed so that'll be a fun and long task to do as well.

Okay Guys, holy great balls of fire Update:

ALL CENTRAL DIGGING OF THE 500X500X120 AREA OF THE IMPERIAL CITY IS 100% CLEARED!!!

What does this mean? Well what do you think it means?! This is AN INSANE Milestone that has taken over a year of time, over 1.25 million blocks to deal with, dozens of caves, Army's of Invisible and not-so invisible Slimes, enough lava pools to rival a small chunk of the Nether, Smashdurdler's immense power and his then subsequent hiding and being found, Tens of Thousands of TNT ignited (both in a controlled and not-so-controlled manners), The creation of the 4 Corners and 4 Channels, the multiple layers of thick work laid out, and probably the most important being the Hundreds of people who helped out to make this project a reality.

Seriously, this is crazy. I never knew when we'd finally get to this damn part. I know there is still quite a bit work left us now, but at least now the huge sky of rocks has been cleared and we can see the light. The work I am referring to is the edges (this will take a few months to complete I am thinking), the floors turned to grass so that we can eventually shape it into the world (which has gotten a lot of work done on if to so far), and lastly of course building the damn city.

Now, this also means a few other things. All the abandon chests have been moved up to the warehouse level to retrieval as the entire platform area (and the lift) have been removed. As well the warehouse actually is housing many people's stuff, which is pretty crazy because the warehouse hasn't seen much action for months.

Anyway, enough text, its time for pictures of IC now in its entrance to this phase:

Not to mention 2 random photos i found lying around:

Sadly, we still need a wait a few hours from this post to get an updated world map picture of Imperial City, but as soon as I do I will edit that in as well for all to see what IC looks like with no platforms and grass building on the way!

But yeah wow. Not much else to say but wow. Crazy stuff. I'll see you guys in game as we continue to construct this technological terror into a grand thing.

I can not believe it has been done. A massive thanks must go out to all that helped. From the ones that dug 1 block to the ones that removed over hundreds of thousands. It really does show what a fantastic place Escapecraft is and what can be achieved with a team.

I shall therefore add some of the pics I have gathered in a year.

If you need to ask why WE was not used then you do not understand the reason behind why this build was done the way it is.

Lionheart wanted to do this in such a way that it was done by hand... it allowed the server and the players to become apart of something that is huge and epic and brought alot of players together and once its done it will be something that everyone will be able to look at in pride knowing they had some hand in it.
Its a labor of love and something we can all be proud of.

People wont be allowed to start contructing, its a scale reproduction of imperial city from oblivion, normal players would kinda ruin that

Actually Lionheart is the Creator and Planner of the Construction of the City and has everything planned out as to how he wants it created and made.

What this means is that the Construction of the city itself will be done by him and anyone he thinks can do the job of building.

Interesting so we would have to apply or pm him about it? I have done so before but no response, sounds like an interesting thing to do though the building of Imperial City. I think I might do this on my server, but thanks to the lack of effort of my staff WorldEdit shall make this interesting.

Okay, just thought I would bring things up to speed again with our progress on the Imperial City.

The entire ground floor has been dug out and we're still filling the last South West corner area with grass to finish that up. Once again I should remind everyone that this is just to help out make it look a bit nicer. Obviously we may have to dig a lot of it out in the future to create the area outside like it is in game depending whenever lionheart gets back and around to it.

Currently, work is being done on the east edge, layer by layer by whomever is interested in still doing dig work. The edges will still take many months to complete so we still have lots of work to do. I have taken a little break from that sort of thing for a bit after our momentous clearing of the main inside area, mostly because I felt like I deserve a little breather and also probably because of Star Wars: The Old Republic, but i digress.

LOL yeah I had thought about doing a post lately about an update. I still work on it from time to time and I know some others do too. There is still lots to do. But its not like its high priority or anything. The room to make the place is there and the edges is just icing on the cake.

Still unsure about lionheart though. Obviously the guy is busy and burnt out from Minecraft currently, as well now we have the extended build height we could do something more with the Imperial City, such as making it more like in the actual game of Oblivion, because if you actually played the game the city sits on TOP of a HILL.

Im thinking we could let something like using WE to move IC up so we can build a mountain underneath slide as when it was built we assumed that minecraft would have a 128 maximum height limit forever and that held strong for over a year. I wouldnt mind making the mountain though at all, as that adds more mindless work to play and enjoy podcasts I listen too to the list.

There is still plenty of work on the edges though to be sure. Right now my attention is on the south edge as it is 100% cleared of buildings above to be cleared out, I suspect this will take a month to do. After that all there is do to is the North edge which could take even longer as minimal work has been done on it thus far.
