New North ( The Borjan Polar Fortress)

Post by Nightydreams » 28 Dec 2011, 16:36

I'm planning on landclaiming and beggining construction on a fairly large plot of ice in north Borjan if enough people become interested I can begin.

New North is a themed floating polar fortress created on the ice floes of north Borjan. It's architecture will take inspiration from such ideas as:

- Laputa's Floating City
- WH40k's Floating Fortress's
- Lord Of The Rings' Minas Tirith

If you are interested in taking part in construction or simply living there post here, once enough takers are confirmed landclaiming and construction can begin.

An Ice Fortress in the Frozen North of Borjan? Modelled after Minas Tirith?

It must have the giant spire/outcropping of Minas Tirith. IT MUST! And a giant front gate, at least 10Wx20H.

I'm lacking on inspiration concerning Warhammer 40k floating fortresses at the moment, if someone could give me or point me in the right direction for images or descriptions of imperial fortresses that would be appreciated.

Hehe I see the words borjan polar fortress and immediately think polar express :P

Edit: on a less unrelated note, this seems like a really cool project. I wish you the best of luck! ( post Picts! ;) )

Okay so I've done some planning and have some conceptual designs to show you.

I've had a go at making a gate/entrance to New North, The emblem displayed on the gate and the walls is the fortress symbol, the symbol can be changed so feel free to give ideas for it. Also the materials used here may not be the final materials. That will be left up till the actual construction to decide.

The current emblem is an image of The mana anchor, a piece of the fortress which will be explained at a later date.

The gate is exactly 19 blocks high and 12 blocks wide, (not counting the actual wall.)

I've also had a go at making an impromptu model of the Mana Anchor's Housing which I want in the middle of the fortress. THe design will be subject to change.

Tell me what you think, what you think can be changed, any ideas for the next conceptual design I will try. Throw them all at me.
