The United Escapian Spelunkers

Post by LS13 » 24 Dec 2011, 00:12

Hello, I am starting the UES because mining in a group is just more fun, and recently I have found more iron in unclaimed caves than I thought possible. The UES is a group that goes and picks a cave to explore, and we will split the profits as best as possible after each expedition. I or whoever is closest to that mine will landclaim the entrance, and then a date and time will be picked for the start of the expedition. Pictures will be taken and posted here after and during the expedition. Feel free to sign up and if you find a cave system that you think would be good for this, post a picture and/or the coordinates.

Members (position will be determined later if at all)
LS13 (founder of UES)
ziggylord (helped in the Frost mines plus helped find the skele spawner for the Frost xp tower)
supercocorox (helped explore the nether fort)
Dominikvl9965
Michael7123
MayorLennie
XxGhOsTxReCoNxX

Possible positions:
Torchbearer: Place torches along the caves to ensure the safety of everyone during the trip
Protectors: Hey, we all mess up and miss a spot or 2, or maybe the torches aren't close enough. Or maybe we're doing an "in the dark" place torches as we go kind of thing. Any way you put it, some people loaded up with swords and bows and arrows would be nice
Miners: These would have to be people I trust enough to give this responsibility to. They would be the ones carrying the ore, and I don't want sneaky people keeping extra for themselves. That would not look good on the UES or me.
Photographer: These people would help take screenshots and compile the pics into one post by sending them to me via pm or something
Explorers: These people would check out possible expedition sights.

These could be mixed, for example: I could be a torch person and light the tunnels before an expedition, and I could be a miner. If you think theses are stupid, or have more ideas, feel free to say so.

Thank you for taking the time to read this,
LS13

The UES is now not the proud owner of a nether fortress complete with blaze spawners!

there is no point of group mining honestly, ull just be losing out on ores that should be urs and at the end of the trip ull have found like 3 dia and ull try to split it among the ten of u ppl that went down into the cave.

Ok then, so do you think a free-for-all where you get what you mine would be better?

Ok, who would like a free for all, and who wants to split the profit? The jobs I listed wouldn't work well with a free for all, except for explorer and torchbearer.

I'd gladly join this.

I say everyone mines, and at the end, we give all of our ores or materials we got to you. Then you divide it up as evenly as you can and then give everyone their serving of the ores. Just a suggestion.

Yeah, that was my original idea. And I'm definitely going to have to go and place torches before an expedition. ziggylord and I went mining in the Frost mines, and due to having two people in the area, we were swarmed by wave aafter wave of mobs, with the end result of ziggy dying by lava and me /home'ing. And I will most likely be using the trade calculator values, and will divide the total value by those who go spelunking. This may mean that not everyone gets a dia, but you should end up with enough iron to equal a dia. This way we don't run into the problem of dividing diamonds. Also, if we don't find enough diamonds, I for one won't receive one, and will instead receive gold or iron.

You won't find many diamonds spelunking, if that's what you're after you'd be better off branch mining. Most cave networks don't go deep enough to reach diamonds, and those that do are full of lava below lvl 10. You will find a lot of iron and coal though.
To be honest I'm kinda sceptical of the whole idea of mining in groups. More mobs to deal with, having to share the ores, and auxiliary services like touch bearer and photographer don't seem to add much.

The torch people go in before hand in a small group if not alone to avoid the large numbers of mobs. They simply run through the cave, lighting it up so there won't be a ton of mobs to deal with later. Photographer is just a side thing if anyone feels like doing it. And in abandoned mineshafts, there can be a lot of diamonds, especially since they can go all the way past the diamond levels and to bedrock. I have personally found mining by myself to be rather boring. That is why I like group mining, you can actually have fun while obtaining materials. A boring task can then become rather fun with the addition of a couple other people.

all im saying is having a group of miners is inefficent and instead every1 should mine on their own without a group. In no way am i suggesting a free for all within the group

K, I am currently trying to finish the Frost town hall this week so I may not get to go light up a tunnel I found. It looks promising, I just need to make sure its large enough.

its my opinion ofc, but fact of the matter is, mining alone makes u gain more ores and valuable stuff.

AND Fact of the matter is that players can do what they want... if they want to set up a Spelunkers group for mining they are well within their rights to do so... So since you clearly don't want anything to do with this group can you kindly stop sounding like a broken record and just move on? Go do what you want and leave the group to do what they want...

Hmm, well it doesn't say you helped with the nether fort. Plus, unless someone else wants to take over I'm sorry but this isn't happening. Too much work to do in Frost.
