So, you want to learn redstone...

Hello everyone. I am creating this guide for all your basic redstone needs. I am going to be updating this with a new video once a week with some new redstone physics and tricks.
The beginning videos will be very basic, and many of you may already know this information (that means no critisism on the basicness steve :x ). Eventually we will delve into more complicated devices, such as computers as we progress. So, without further delay, here are the videos.

Also, feel free to make requests, because I will run out of videos eventually. If it is to complex, I may need ot make a video leading up to it, though so that you an grasp the basics.

Playlist
I suggest watching the videos in the order of the playlist, or in the order from top to bottom in this page.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... e=view_all

Introduction and Physics

This consists of minor physics that will be useful when working with redstone on minor projects, and free hand creations.

Gates

Basic gates and all their uses. This is crucial to know if you don't already know it.

Locks Basic

A basic overview of adding locks that are 1 tall onto your home.

Locks Advanced

Covering the creation of locks that are 2-4 blocks high. Also vault locks.

AND + XOR Gates: An Elaboration

Elaborates on the AND and XOR Gates.

Intro to Binary
Introduces you to some basic machines for binary, and how to read binary.
-Note: Also, I am afraid I may not have explained it in the best way possible. If anyone needs further elaboration, just ask. You may also want to ask some redstone people on the server like Steveab or Tehbeard, while refrencing the internet if you didn't fully understand.

Adders
Shows the construction and use of half adders, and full adders.

Computer Basics

Shows you how to build the basic computer by breaking down each component.

Coming soon.

Computer Advanced

Piston Doors

Yay! Redstone is the one thing I've never really tried my hand at, other than basic piston doors and such. Oh, and a system to light up the room where my zombie spawner is.

Decided to go ahead and get a few videos I already made out there, then I will start updating the video list every Monday after I run out.

Contrary to your presumption I would like to help to educate the masses on the wonder of redstone.

I have some vague knowledge of redstone, but I'd hardy say I was any good. Learning logic gates is dead handy though!

hmm, this seems like it will turn out handy. I know alot of the basics and some of the advanced stuff too but i'm interested in seeing where this will go. definitely gonna be keeping an eye on this.

Same as SMW, i only had vague knowledge of how redstone worked, these videos are good, cant wait to see more!
i would like to say however the person in the videos should practice/plan what he is going to say before the video.

Thanks to the videos i was able to make a craftbook door that opened and stayed open with a button on each side of the door, and pressure plates each side to close it and keep it closed after walking through.
to see how ---->
Spoiler! :
(I used 2 separate circuits each containing a memory latch, a NOT NOT gate and repeaters to stop signals going backwards and 1 way to activate each side of the memory latch via a button or pressure plate. All successfully hidden with vertical redstone paths, these 2 circuits were both connected separately to the 'door up' sign and made the door open when the buttons were hit. Each button/plate combo can not trip each other either :D)

I AM the person in the video :| , and I did plan, I just am a little clutter minded.

If I finish all these can you give me a badge for my signature? :)

Yeah.... you do need one.

Anyone who wants to make one can go ahead and make it and if I like we can have it. I don't know how to make badges.

Ok, new video for this Monday. I might break schedule to finish computers off, and get videos out early.
Don't forget for what is next.

The binary video was a bit confusing to understand in my opinion and i already know how to read binary. It may be better to just explain binary like this:
Spoiler! :

64 32 16 8 4 2 1

0...1...0..0.1.0.1
=37 (ignore the dots, double spacing just doesnt seem to work)
The bottom row is binary, the top row is the number the 1's and 0's represent. A '1' in a numbers column represents that number, while a 0 does not. As you can see the numbers in the top row continue to double, by doing that we can create any number via just 1's and 0's. As you can see above we have a 1 in the 32 column, and in the 4 and 1 column. (while the rest are 0) this means that 100101 = 37 because, 32+4+1=37.
Otherwise good video
The 'Adders' video i thought was very well explain though :D
And do piston doors or self-repairing houses next!!

Just wondering, Is this ever going to be continued?

wow, old post IS old, Random XP but I love redstone and I love teaching, so would be interested in helping out with this. I think I'm too twitchy and adhd to run the camera (I'd make my audience motion-sick before I could get to the good stuff). but I'd be more than happy to explain how I build the things I build, piston doors are fun and relatively easy.

The most complex thing I probably know how to make is a 2x2 hidden piston door.

And to think I somehow made it onto Team Enigma...

Anyone wanna take bets how many students will drop the class if you make that the first lesson plan? XD

Dnl has been inactive for a few months now without a word, so unless someone else picks up where this left off probably no :(

Well, given the content already posted.... Yeah, some intro stuff would be needed XD
