Yggdrasil

It's old but gold. If it could help you out we've probably chucked it in here.

Yggdrasil

Post by tanisjihanis » 09 Mar 2012, 20:21

Yggdrasil The World Tree.jpg
Yggdrasil is a project that is currently in the planning phases. It will be built by a select team of builders. Here are a list of the statistics of this megabuild based off of calculations and 3d models of the structure.

-Estimated log count will be around 50 double chests.
-If one person was building it, estimated build time would be 4.5 weeks of solid playing.
-The height of the tree from base to tip will be 192 blocks
-The width of the tree(diameter) is planned to be 248 blocks
-If sold, the material value of the tree(not including work time) would be over 1000 diamonds

If you are interested in donating materials to the project or in someway participating in the build, please post on here. All donators will be listed on a board, as well in the video at the completion of project.

The official image album for the project can be found here, and is being maintained by M477h3w1012

Crazy person, will donate what I can when I can, and I shall also be helping the building, by probably taking screenshots and timelapses during production if thats ok.
Posting to imgur and youtube respectively

EDIT:
If things are so dire that everyone gets extremely fed up. I will also offer free amounts of cynicism, and help out if needed

If there is any chance of there being an arctic zone, I will break my vow to never build large structures with ice.

Impossible for 256. We are starting at ground level, not bedrock ;P

Also, first designs for trunk are here:

It is by layers.

At the rate i'm working now i should have all the wood by the end of next week!!!!!
If we need it any faster let me know.
I might be asking for some iron soon. I have some reserves but don't know for how long.
I also need some help with getting the wood to the construction site so if there is anyone with some spare time let me know.

Trunk Part 2
Trunk Part 2.png
This should take us to the current height limit, and the last couple of layers will probably be cut off by that right now. If this is not the case, then please let me know, as I may have miscalculated something.

Was planning on having 2 seperate spheres, one of lava inside glass, one of ice and water with a glowstone center. I said the tree itself is in an arctic area. Wasn't planning on having an arctic area within the tree.

The tree will be another city for branchscape perhaps. More housing or somesuch. The point isn't its function so much as GIANT TREE YAY.
