I'd love to help with this. I've currently agreed to help Rbk with a mall, but afterwards, if you need anyone else, please let me know! :D

Alrighty, we need someone on torch and landscaping(mass tree planting) work... Anyone interested?

Skunk, great: let me know when you finish that other project.

Also: with the addition of steveab's auto logger, the most needed supply is now saplings. Not that logs aren't still definitely needed, it's just that we have a shortage of oak saplings...

Thanks to everyone helping with this. Construction is going faster than I could have ever hoped it would.

Just curious, any plans to make the trunk a little less of a perfect circle? Ya'know, give it bumps and stuff.

Theres already roots and stuff, we'll probably add in the knots and whirls later, when we can stand back and appreciate the whole thing fully, i.e. when it's done

I think we should put a hollow of sorts in the middle over the entrance.

Next order of work since I dont have the branch plans together yet will be starting the dome. This means sketching out the circumference of a 128 block radius circle around the tree with leaves, as well as putting a dirt platform the size and shape of the first circle of the trunk up at 10 blocks below skylimit, where the dome will be started.

Erm... Tanis, when you say 128 block radius, you can't even see the tree from one of the branches, Also, MORE TORCHES, damn skeles are opportunists.

EDIT: Just to give you a scale of the size, the southern branch reaches past Steves Tree farm, and over the coloured wool mess over the fence

Yup. Thats why this was a fair distance outside the walls. Now the dome is the real hard part.

So, this isn't dead, we've just been biding our time. We will most likely be restarting construction sometime soon.
I made 5 concept designs and will edit this post to add them shortly. (after I land from the airplane I am in)

This is still going to be happening. Plans in the works. M477, are you still interested in working on it?

Information on the building plans:

I want to start with the roads instead of the tree
Final plans are to have a 100 radius circle wall for protection, then spokes for roads. 4 circles and 8 spokes that connect those circles.
Looking for a location relatively uninhabited, but easy to get to. Any of the ends of the dragon routes would work.
I plan to put down my 4 claims to start with
we make the inner circle and wall which has a 50 block radius
so there will be an inner and outer city
inner city with the important functions in it
town hall, farms, post, etc
I want to build a functioning and symmetrical sewer system
to the center of the circle
as well as rails functioning as subways/roots which will go to the edges of the circle.
There will be road signs and addresses for each of the plots. Suggestions on address plans welcome.

I want to make this as symmetrical and beautiful as possible with the end result being something amazing that will last for a long time. All builders invited to help with the plans and building. Any of those that help will have their names immortalized on the inner walls of the tree.

For the start, when we work on roads and basic infrastructure, Sand, stonebrick, logs, and lightstone/torches. We will be leveling the ground.

As I said on the BR thread: I pledge thyself to the building of this great city and the tree it is formed of, for this I will break my vow to never cut down vast quantities of trees for a build, ill try to start getting some today but with Tolteca's release i will be doing a bit of exploring
It seems all of my signature and avatar has failed, I will fix as soon as I can!
