My Fanmade Escapecraft Trailer

Post by xidontcarex » 10 Sep 2011, 17:53

Because im extremely confused about where to put this video(the post "join the creative team" or "escapecraft is looking for video editors" or in PR), i decided to just put it here instead... sorry if i post in the wrong section

This is a video i made of a mini trailer for this server, it took about 2hrs to film(and i did a terrible job) and about 3-5hrs of editing (including finding music) :/

also this is my first trailer type video ever, so srry if it sucks >.< i know theres lots of mistakes >.<

feel free to leave comments and suggestions on how i can improve on my video

also this video has 1080p quality if u choose to watch it on youtube, please leave a thumbs up and sub if u want to :)

Protip: F8 for smooth camerawork.

I liked the trailer. It's very well-done for a first try.

LOL

I forgot to get rid of the "GOTHAM" on the Corinth sign.. that's from the night Lord Mountbatten, Lord Bountmatten, Lord Battenmount, and Lord Mountbatman engaged in ridiculous levels of tomfoolery.

I'll have to remove that. .-.

A few suggestions:
As Goda said, F8 is great but kinda tough to get used to.
I'd recommend using the League Gothic font - it's kind of an Escapecraft standard.
The Escapecraft Official Texture Pack would be a good choice (use MCPatcher for best results). It looked like that was what you were using but I couldn't tell.
Run all the text by Lord_Mountbatten so he can proofread it; some stuff was unnecessarily capitalized or cramped. He fixes those sort of things with magic.
Use one font (maybe League Gothic :D) for the whole video.

The whole thing was really well put together, great work. I'd recommend you for the Public Relations Magic Video Team or whatever handles those sort of things. (:

thanks guys, i never knew about F8 and i didnt know ec had a standard font >.< sorry

and yes afly that was the escapecraft texturepack

and thanks for all the great comments guys :D

and it was really hard to film this especially the things that were in water or in the mountains, because without /fly or /mc, its kinda difficult to get the perfect position for camera angle

No :P events are normally filmed in the faithful 32x32 pack. It makes thing easier and it makes default alittle better.

Really cool! Good job on the whole thing. I like all of the cities you mentioned in it! Very good editing :) (Just a fact) the pagoda, bridge and the other buildings at the other sides of the bridge aren't in HarborTown. If you are making another one, you can include Benchwood. Benchwood and Harbortown and one jointed cuboid and you could also film Iron's floating place thingy because that is in a bit of our cuboid ( but ask for permission to film it, I guess :p)

if you make another one i would ask you to take a look at MagmaVale :)

while you cant get aerial shots of it (underground city Hurr Durr) its good enough looking for this i think. especialy if you include our Volcano :D

Aside from the other excellent advice posted here, I just want to "thumbs up"!

What I liked was the different angles you chose to use and your creative transitions.

The music really fit but it made me anticipate some sort of grand finale that wasn't there / just the logo. This might be good to make someone curious. How about some fast cuts and clips of player interactions with one another and the environment at the end? The beauty of our server astounds and you captured it well so if hats what you were going for, bravo.

As a viewer, though, I'd like to have that balanced with adventure and community.

I watch a lot of mc related videos, and I really love yours.

Keep it up - please make more videos now that you've got some new technical advice to work with!!

I can't wait to see what's next.

thanks for ur comment :P the music died down, so i just kept fluttershy as the most amazing thing XP

and for this video i just wanted buildings and structures :/ didnt want to do people, they are sometimes quite hard to work with and it gets a bit chaotic at times...

I have to agree with Lennie. There needed to be a big "wow" at the end. Maybe Imperial City would have worked for that, since it is our server's big project. Any chance of you refilming this video with F8?

If you do another trailer i would say you only have one world in it as each world has more than you can show in a couple of minutes & what texture pack do you use as all the wood is really dark?

And anyone else spot Derigin?

Dark Wood is the better wood Andy ;)

Escapecraft Official is a specialised Painterly. they obviously picked all the dark wood options for it
