Dreamy Plugin Idea

It's old but gold. If it could help you out we've probably chucked it in here.

Dreamy Plugin Idea

Post by SneakyPie » 09 Apr 2011, 10:11

Now, this idea came to me in a dream.

What if Furnaces had a Queue? You could a total of five items in a Furnace and once one item was finished, the next one would begin as long as you had enough fuel. You wouldn't have to babysit Furnaces any more with this. Brilliant!

Plugin authors, let's get cracking.

So you're saying have 5 waiting slots, and 5 finished slots?

Sounds good. :) I generally just use multiple furnaces though, it's faster.

No, because this plugin doesn't exist. Which is why I'm throwing the idea out here.

It should have 8 slots, since a coal/charcoal can smelt up to 8 things. Would be handy for cooking items that don't stack, like pork.

True, but then again, a bucket of Lava can smelt 100 things too.

The problem would then be crowding the interface with the more slots you add. Instead of five, maybe a total of four. One active, three for the queue.

True, but lava smelting doesn't seem to be practical; you lose a bucket, and a block of lava which could have been obsidian instead, whereas coal is plentiful and charcoal is technicially infinite.

I think this kind of Mod would require both a Client and a Server-side mod. So it is no really practical for us.

Dreamy Plugin Idea is Dreamy... does it need to be "practical"?

It does not, but it would be nice if it would be practical :)

It seems like a good idea, but I already tend to put WAY too many furnaces in my houses anyways. One of them has all furnace flooring and the other has a room with 45 furnaces.
