Because There Wasn't Nearly Enough of These - Goda's AMA

Post by Godavari » 06 Jan 2013, 17:24

I love attention and I love peer pressure. So I made an AMA. You know how it works by now.

Do you ever intend to retake your title as the #1 Putin (TM)?

You've had a Putin avatar long than anyone, do you ever plan to change it?

Do you like Vladimir Putin irl?

What is the story behind the Putin avatar (if there is one)?

What's your favaorite movie?

What's your favorite band/singer?

Coolest place you have ever been?

Best Minecraft Experience?

Coolest thing you ev build on Escapecraft?

How many (legit) diamond blocks do you have?

How did you find Escapecraft?

No. I find it confusing when people change their avatars - I have to take a while to re-associate the avatar with the name. So I don't plan to do that.
Do you like Vladimir Putin irl?
Eh. He's a badass. But he's also a political juggernaut who doesn't always follow the rules. I respect some of the things he's done, but not necessarily the methods by which he's done them.
What is the story behind the Putin avatar (if there is one)?
See above. Badassery.
What's your favaorite movie?
It's hard to choose just one. I'll pick two from different categories. Best drama is The Dark Knight. Best comedy... I'll have to give it to Time Bandits. That movie does my sense of humor so well.
What's your favorite band/singer?
Muse. Unfortunately they don't ever seem to have tours anywhere near me.
Coolest place you have ever been?
Pike's Peak in Colorado. It's a really spectacular sight to behold.
Best Minecraft Experience?
I think the entire period in which Nart was on the server was one of my best experiences. That guy believed in my projects more than I did. I erected a monument to him in Borderpost after he left.
Coolest thing you ev build on Escapecraft?
I think Ravine City is pretty cool. It's near my estate in West Fyra. An underground city, complete with glass floors and PODS. SO MANY PODS.
How many (legit) diamond blocks do you have?
I think I've got around a dozen. It's been a while since I last checked my legit stash, though. I usually prefer to play with creative mode.
How did you find Escapecraft?
I was on The Escapist when I picked up Minecraft way back in Alpha version. I tried single player for a bit but back then it wasn't very advanced, so I decided to look around for servers. Lo and behold, The Escapist had a server, so I joined up. Never looked back.

If you could add one thing to Minecraft what would it be?

What's your favourite food?

Into any good books/TV shows/non-Minecraft games at the moment?

Got any interesting/unusual hobbies?

I think fortresses and jungle temples would all be a lot cooler if there were actual traps in them. I've seen a few map generators that included redstone mechanisms - I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard.
What's your favourite food?
Cheese and crackers.
Into any good books/TV shows/non-Minecraft games at the moment?
I'm in the middle of watching Breaking Bad right now, as well as going through some of the games I got in the Steam Sale (right now it's Half-Life 1).
Got any interesting/unusual hobbies?
I sing tenor in an a capella group. I guess that's kind of weird when you realize my area of focus is computer science.

It's a river in India I learned about in seventh grade geography. I thought it sounded cool.

What do you think of the concept that the Minecraft community will be the ones updating and carrying Minecraft on into the future once API support has been added because the Minecraft team is running out of ideas to implement themselves. Also what would you like to see added or changed? I personal think they dropped the ball on the mine carts and could have made the mine cart system better and more efficient.

If you were given the life-threatening decision of sacrificing Ravine City or your modship, which one would you pick?

I'm quite happy with the idea of the community generating content as it sees fit. Generally any game I've played with a big modding community has been better for it. As far as what should be added or changed, I think Mojang have been focusing too much on adding new features and as a result they haven't been doing anything to make existing mechanics more robust. Every update is always some new gizmo or block or enemy, but personally I'd like to see changes and improvements to systems like redstone and minecarts and combat. Also I think the game should allow multi-threading and, like Tulon, believe it would be better if a server could push mods to the client without having to use something like Spout.

I can always find another ravine.

You are suddenly popped into a small, claustrophobic hallway with a group of large, bulky men wanting to kill you! What is your immediate course of action?
