Escapecraft Trade Calculator

Post by Furdabip » 16 Feb 2011, 16:26

Taking longer than I had imagined, I am finally done with my trading calculator. I believe it has whatever features someone would find useful, but if anyone has any ideas for additional features or whatever, then feel free to mention it.

It can be found here: http://richinnovations.com/misc/mc.html
(Current version 1.2.5 for Minecraft v1.2.5. Purely coincidental versioning)

The default price index is based purely on what I'd be willing to trade for stuff. Try it out and if something seems off, like item X seems too expensive or cheap compared to item Y, then let me know, and I'll change around the default price index.

Since I programmed it, how to use it seems straight forward to me, however, I am sure some of it's features are cryptic. So:

How To Use The Calculator:

Step 1: Select the item someone wants to buy from you (you are the 'seller') from the left select box.

[PROTIP]   If someone wants to buy multiple items from you, you can Ctrl + click or Shift + click to select/deselect multiples.

Step 2: The items you selected in Step 1 are displayed below the select box. Enter the amount you want to sell into the box beside each selection.

[PROTIP]   You can choose to use Stacks or Singles by selecting it from the drop-down. You can also click the "«»" to exchange the amount back and forth between Stacks and Singles. If you are uber lazy, you can type an "s" after the number in the box to switch back and forth from Singles and Stacks as well.

Step 3: Select the item you want in return on the right. It should automatically calculate the amount required to match the price you specified on the left.

[PROTIP]   You can use specific numbers when buying, and the calculator will use those when calculating new items. As an example, if you want to buy 2 things, select the first one then erase the value in the text box beside it, enter the amount you want to buy then ctrl+click the second item. The second item will be calculated based on the first item's value.

[PROTIP]   The "s" trick works when using the buying boxes too. Just hit "s" after a number and the calculator will change the number to reflect that many stacks.

Step 4: ???

Step 5: Profit!

Other Features:

There's also Gathering Advice you can get from the calculator by clicking the link in the top-right corner for it. If you have better advice, or the advice seems outdated, let me know.

You can also set your own Price Index if you want. Click "Custom Price Index" in the top-left corner. Instructions on how to import a Price Index, and the formatting used is described in the Export comments. Just click it and read.

This is actually very useful.

We should try and incorporate this somehow.

I just tested it with something, and it turned out to be worth exactly what I would have guessed.

So good work, this'll be useful! Thanks. :)

Currently a stack of wool goes for 2D.. and when I try to verify that in your calc it tells me a stack of wool is not worth any diamonds..

But appart form that, this is really good.

Wool is that expensive? Hmm. I could see maybe a stack for ONE diamond, but 2 seems expensive for me.

Either way, you can export the price index, change it, then import it again if you want Wool worth 500 (500 would make 1 stack even with 2 diamonds).

However, I am going to update it so 1 stack of Wool is worth 1 diamond.

If you think about it, you could find a lot of diamonds in the time it takes you to track down enough sheep to make a stack, considering some of them only drop one wool each.

Exactly, and trust me I'm in the Wool business with my Royal Cloth Shop. (serious bssnss.)
A stack of wool is well worth 2D.

Personally what i do is offer my wool at the same price for any colors, except for the ones who use LL dye and combos.

Alrighty then. I think 1 diamond per stack is enough for the default anyway. Like I said, though, it DOES support custom price indexes, and you can import your own. It will save it to a cookie and automatically load it the next time you go back to it.

With Cauldrons now, Lapis is rather easy to get.

A single gem.

Also, I need to update the default values and add some stuff I missed too, which I will do... eventually.

Alright, just a notice that I have updated this with new items and stuff from 1.3, as well as stuff I forgot to add from before. I have also changed around default price indexes. As usual (never mentioned before though), changes per "version" (I hate versioning my stuff... never makes sense) are viewable in the file's source code. Just right-click the page and go to View Source. :-)

Also, I have moved the calculator to http://richinnovations.com/misc/mc.html! Change your bookmarks or whatnot, if you even have it bookmarked.

Coal is EASILY made now. Redstone Dust still is (relatively) hard to get at.

Yes. Trees will randomly make Pine, Birch or Oak now when the sapling is planted.

Shameless plus :D

Something that is probably very unimportant i just saw:
It says 3 stacks of wood is worth 1 stack 48 singles of wood. I don't think anyone will ever really need that kind of conversion. But just something

Some more playing reveals that 3 stacks of wood is worth 24 stacks of Netherrack. That seems rather odd to me.
I'm going to keep playing with it.... Since i can't get on the server at the moment

The way the calculator works, is if you have entered a number in the "Buy" textboxes, then it will stay there if you change the "Selling" stuff. Gotta click the item's text to recalculate it, or deselect and reselect it. At no point in time would a normal trade (selecting Sell first, THEN buy) EVER come out to a non-properly calculated price. You just were using it wrong. ;-)

And yeah, Netherrack is as plentiful as Cobblestone, so has the same index. The Nether should be coming back VERY soon, so will be accurate for that again.

Yes... I suppose it is. With the general availability of mob items due to a great number of mob towers popping up, the price index of Sulphur was lowered. :-p

I thought about that, but didnt think it effected that haha, silly me. other than personal blunders or Nether-things, it is amazing stuff there

Even though outdated for the current version. I am basicly waiting on Cauldrons to come back, otherwise I gotta go through and adjust prices for Lapis, all the Wool, and other such stuff.

Yeah, it took a lot of convincing me that Gold really was worth less than Iron. With Rails now, too, Iron has more uses, so got a boost in price. I think that this Price Index is as solid as prices have ever been, though.

I'm also glad I sold most of my gold while the price was high.

The calc is only to be used as a guide, so if someone wants to trade Gold at higher prices, let them. :-)
